City of Tullahoma Appoints Dave Anderson as Parks and Recreation Director

The City of Tullahoma is pleased to announce the appointment of Parks and Recreation Director, Dave Anderson. This is a key leadership role for the city, and Anderson brings twenty-five years of experience to lead the department that consists of 10 full-time positions and up to 100 part-time and seasonal staff.

Anderson’s father, a Parks Director, inspired him to follow in his father’s footsteps. He has in-depth knowledge of all Parks and Recreation operations, including successful grant writing and complex grant administration. He formerly worked for the City of Gatlinburg and the City of Pigeon Forge. In these roles, he was credited with successfully building a positive work environment and strong partnerships. He has been successful in re-building the baseball leagues in the City of Pigeon Forge and City of Sevierville, both of which were experiencing low participation.

“Each contact I made for a reference check used similar words to describe Dave Anderson; most frequently starting with his infectious positive energy and clear passion for his work, and working with youth specifically,” said City Administrator, Jennifer Moody.

Anderson has been actively involved with the Tennessee Parks and Recreation Association (TRPA) for twenty years and serves as the 2021-2022 TRPA President of TRPA.

Anderson went through a rigorous three-phase recruitment process. “I believe he will be one who will lead collaboratively when working within and outside the department. I am most excited to see how he will use his knowledge, experience, ambition, and high-energy to inspire our team and contribute to the continued success of the Tullahoma Parks and Recreation Department,” said Moody.

He is a 1999 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education and health and was a pitcher for the baseball team. He holds a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification, acquired in 2007.

“I anticipate that based upon his experience and his network of peers throughout the state, Mr. Anderson is well-prepared to lead our parks team and become a valued member of the Tullahoma community,” said Moody.

Please help us welcome Dave to Tullahoma. He will begin his work as the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Tullahoma on October 27, 2021.
